How to Give Your Dog Supplement
Products Such As Flexicose Glucosamine

Many veterinarians nowadays suggest giving arthritic canines regular doses of a variety of supplement products. This is one of those cases where talk is particularly cheap. What I mean by this is that giving a dog pills or tablets is not the easiest or most fun thing to do as a pet owner. We will offer some tips here to make the process of supplementation simpler and easier with canines.

Your vet will tell you some simple ways to give a dog a tablet or pill. But the method they describe is not always so simple and straightforward as pet owners find out. They suggest taking the pill into fingers and using the other hand to squeeze the dogs lower jaw and force the mouth open. Then take the pill and push it on top of their time and as far back into their throat as possible. I know this sounds a little bit gross and it is somewhat. But if you push the pill back far enough into their throat it will initiate a swallowing reflex, and the canine will automatically swallow the pill. They won't like it, but it doesn't do them any harm or hurt them in any way.

Another way that we have successfully given pills to our pets is by placing the tablet or pill into another food substance and feeding it to the animal in that fashion. For example, one trick we used easily give dogs a pill or supplement product is by placing the dose inside a small piece of bread which is then covered with either peanut butter or simply plain better. This works very well as the dog quickly choose and swallows the treat along with the enclosed pill. In fact, we have found this to work so well, and the dogs enjoy it so much, that we have to be very careful when giving the piece of food which is covered in peanut butter to the dog. If we are not careful, the dog tends to take a bite out of our finger also.

If the supplement product is one such as Flexicose glucosamine that has a liquid version instead of tablets and pills, then the process of supplementation for the canine is far simpler. One simply has to squeeze the bottle and fill the reservoir at the top and then pour the contents over the pet's food at meal time. Dogs are not finicky usually and will gobble their food up along with the Flexicoseliquid supplement that was placed on top. If you find your pet refusing to eat the food once the supplement was added to it, at that point you can also add a bit of peanut butter or regular butter on top of the supplement pill in the food. This almost always those the trick for getting the dog to take the Flexicose supplement product easily.

Giving your dog pills or tablets is never an easy thing to do. But these tips offer simple suggestions for making that process much easier and less stressful for both you and the canine.
